Estelle Poole, who performs under the Is She? moniker, is a guitarist, vocalist and composer based in Portland, Maine. She is known locally/regionally as an illuminating songwriter and performer whose lyrical themes articulate and unravel complex subject matters, such as love, loss, failures of patriarchy, mental health, and community into gorgeous songscapes with broad appeal.

Poole’s characteristic serpentine vocal melodies and syncopated electric guitar finger picking tend to define her songwriting style and can quickly quiet a room into a mesmerized, edge-of-seat focus. Her work as a band leader leans into jazz, prog-rock and even reflect a chamber music composer's approach applied to pop and rock styles. Her thoughtful use of space and well-timed rests within her composing are especially notable.
